Stretch Marks

Stretch marks also known as striae, are caused when there is rapid stretching of the skin. Initially they are red indicating they are in the inflammatory stage of healing and will eventually turn silvery white.  Stretch marks should only be treated by skin needling when they are white.

The most effective way we can help you with your stretch marks is by skin needling.  All treatments will reduce and flatten out the stretch marks but it will never disappear, so don’t believe anyone if they tell you they can completely remove it or don’t buy a cream off the internet that states it will remove stretch marks, it is not possible.

Skin needling also knows as collagen induction therapy or percutaneous collagen induction, will assist stimulate the production of collagen in the deeper layers of the skin and help restructure the top layer of skin.  The deeper ridges of the stretch mark will lessen with treatments.  You may need up to 10 treatments but results will be visible after 6 treatments.  Treatments can be scheduled every 4 weeks and application of skin care containing vitamin A (retinaldehyde) will assist.  Once you have stretch marks they can never be removed however they can be lessened.

We use the Dermapen for our skin needling.  Click here for more information.
